• "I’ve had the pleasure of seeing and consulting with Dr. Guo postpartum after suffering a massive bleed out from my c section due to my therapeutic dosage of Lovenox blood thinner for a DVT in my leg. No one at the hospital I delivered at listened to my concerns prior to discharge about the high dosage of blood thinner twice a day after having such an invasive surgery and lo and behold the night of my discharge I almost bled out and had to be hospitalized for a day after getting my incision packed and cauterized to stabilize me, it was almost to the point I needed two blood transfusions. The original hematologist that saw me at the hospital was supposed to see me the same week either 1-2 days post discharge, however, the earliest they were able to get me in was March 27th which was well past a week after my discharge as this was an urgent matter to address and the hematologist knew so as well. Luckily the OB who helped stabilize me at the hospital told me she can recommend me a hematologist which led me to calling New York Blood and Oncology Center. The lovely lady who answered the phone, Maria at the other Port Jeff location, was phenomenal, she understood the severity of the situation and she was able to get me an appointment the next day after searching which location had the earliest appointment near me. When it came time for the appointment, the receptionists were a pleasure to converse with and it was a smooth new patient onboard due to being able to fill out paperwork digitally prior to the appointment. The lovely phlebotomists as well as the nurses (I saw Brittany who was such a pleasure to talk to) have great bedside manners and are a pleasure to talk with. Dr. Guo herself is amazing, she listened to my concerns about my view on my Lovenox dosage and listened to every detail I told her about my experience leading up to my bleed out postpartum. She herself has a baby waiting for her at home too and we were able to talk about our children as well. It was very easy to build a rapport with her and she made me feel comfortable. We both didn’t trust the hospital that performed a Doppler on me stating I was blood clot free after my experience so she ordered for me to have another one done at the place across the street which made me feel more secure with the plans she had for me after the results. Overall I have had a pleasurable experience with everyone I have met here and will be returning for a follow up three weeks from now."
