Dr. Benasher is a graduate of CUNY Queens College where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a Minor in Biochemistry. He received his Doctor of Medicine at St. George’s University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in the Department of Medicine at Maimonides Medical Center. Recently, Dr. Benasher completed his fellowship training in the Department of Hematology/Oncology at Maimonides Medical Center.
Dr. Benasher has experience treating a wide range of solid tumors such as lung cancer, prostate cancer, and gastrointestinal cancers amongst others. His experience also includes treating an array of hematological malignancies such as Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, Chronic lymphocytic leukemia, Myelodysplastic syndromes, and Multiple myeloma. Additionally, he has experience in evaluating and treating benign hematologic disorders such as iron deficiency anemia, blood disorders in pregnancy, hypercoagulable states, and bleeding disorders.
Dr. Benasher has researched the utility of next-generation sequencing in metastatic colorectal cancer. He has also investigated the management of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura in special patient populations who do not accept blood products.
