Medical Oncology & Hematology

Dr. Helen Shum is a Board Certified Physician in the areas of Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Oncology.

Dr. Shum earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Brandeis University in Massachusetts while minoring in Anthropology and Biochemistry. After her undergraduate studies, she attended Drexel University College of Medicine in Pennsylvania where she received her Medical Degree. She completed her Internal Medicine internship and residency at Brown University and went on to complete her fellowship training in Hematology and Oncology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center.

During her training, Dr. Shum has participated in basic science research at Cornell University, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and the New York Blood Center. She also co-authored several publications on various topics in clinical oncology. Since completing her training, Dr. Shum has treated patients with a wide variety of hematologic and oncologic disorders in Manhasset, New York. She is thrilled to be returning to Queens to continue to serve her community alongside other medical professionals at New York Cancer & Blood Specialists.
