Dr. Faraz Afridi is a physician with training in pediatric hematology-oncology and board-eligibility in adult and pediatric hospice and palliative medicine. He completed a fellowship in pediatric hematology-oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he treated children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer. He went on to complete a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, where his training focused on the care of adult patients and strengthened his expertise in comprehensive, patient-centered care across all ages.

He has been particularly interested in adolescents and young adults and is determined to optimize communication and quality of life in this unique cohort. His research during fellowship examined immunotherapy outcomes in adolescent and young adult patients, with work throughout his training presented at national conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals.

Baldwin Jr. Award for excellence in interprofessional collaboration. He was additionally recognized with MD Anderson’s Excellence in Development of Fellowship Wellness Award for advancing initiatives to support trainee wellbeing. He actively mentors medical students and trainees while advocating for diversity and inclusion in medicine through his involvement in institutional committees and leadership roles. He hopes to integrate his dual training to advance thoughtful, age-appropriate conversations about goals of care and innovative models of support for seriously ill people.

With a strong foundation in both clinical care and translational research, Dr. Afridi is dedicated to advancing oncology and palliative medicine while fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals.
