Nurse Practitioner
Donna Galgano, the Nurse Practitioner at New York Breast Health, received her undergraduate nursing degree from the State University at Binghamton. She completed a Master’s Degree in Health Education at Adelphi University, as well as a second Master’s Degree in Nursing with certification as an Adult Health Nurse Practitioner.
For eight years, Ms. Galgano was the Director of Breast Cancer Patient Education for the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System. She developed a comprehensive, multidisciplinary education program at three health system hospitals called, “Living With Breast Cancer,” for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and their families. She successfully managed them for more than six years.
She is certified by the State of New York as an Adult Health Nurse Practitioner. She is an active member of several professional societies including the New York State Nurse Practitioner Association and the Oncology Nursing Society.
Donna assists the physicians with all aspects of patient care including well and high-risk patient management, postoperative care, clinical trials, genetic testing, and survivorship. She also serves as a Patient Navigator for women newly diagnosed with breast cancer provide, guidance, referrals and educational counseling.
