New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS), one of the Nation’s leading oncology practices, proudly announces the addition of hematologist-oncologist, Dr. Garry Lachhar. Beginning September 8, 2026, Dr. Lachhar will be practicing at NYCBS’s office located at 48 Route 25A, Suite 209, Smithtown, 1500 Route 112, Building 1, Port Jefferson Station, and 119 Terry Road, Smithtown, NY.

Dr. Lachhar is committed to evidence-based patient care and has developed a strong research background through his training in internal medicine and hematology-oncology.
Dr. Lachhar earned his Doctor of Medicine from St. George’s University after completing a Bachelor of Science in Biology at Stony Brook University. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident and was recognized as both Internal Medicine Resident of the Year and Overall Resident of the Year for the Class of 2023. He then completed his Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship at Mather Hospital.

Throughout his training, Dr. Lachhar has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications and national presentations spanning hematology, oncology, pulmonary medicine, cardiovascular medicine, and critical care. He has received multiple first-place awards at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Annual Research Day and serves on the Stony Brook University Alumni Association Board of Directors and the St. George’s University School of Medicine Alumni Association Board of Trustees. He is also an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Physicians.
