On the North Shore, fall is all about orchards. Families visit places like Lewin Farms or Harbes Family Farm to pick apples, and kids explore corn mazes with new designs every year. The farmland gives you that classic autumn feeling, with hayrides along dirt paths lined with hay bales and scarecrows.
On the South Shore, fall feels a bit different. It’s closer to the water and usually a little warmer. Our South Shore staff look forward to farmers' markets, where local vendors offer mums, gourds, and honey. Not far away, White Post Farms has hayrides and a small petting zoo that make the day fun for everyone.
Out East, the North Fork celebrates harvest season. Vineyards hold weekend festivals with live music and food trucks, and roadside stands sell cider donuts fresh from the fryer. Driving along Sound Avenue in October, you’ll see pumpkin fields on one side and vineyards on the other. Once the leaves start to change, it’s one of the prettiest roads on the Island.
Closer to the city, in the western towns and neighborhoods near our Queens and Nassau offices, fall feels a bit cozier but just as charming. You can enjoy colorful leaves with a walk through Alley Pond Park or Cunningham Park, no long drive needed. Local diners serve butternut squash soup and all things pumpkin spice.
