Medical Oncology & Hematology
Steven Montana, DO is board certified in hematology and medical oncology. He has been a practicing medical hematologist and oncologist on Long Island, NY since 1998.
Dr. Montana received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Hofstra University in Hempstead, before attending The New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, NY where he received his D.O. During this time, he also completed a rotating internship at Saint Clare’s Hospital and Medical Center. Following his internship, Dr. Montana completed his Internal Medical Residency at Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center and then continued to Stony Brook University for his fellowship where he participated in basic science cancer research studies.
Since then, Dr. Montana has been the co-author of several medical publications. Dr. Montana treats patients at our Port Jefferson and Smithtown offices. Many of his special areas of interest include gastrointestinal cancers, lung cancer, lymphoma, and malignant/nonmalignant hematology.

"Front office and nurses and doctors are all top in their fields and I have never seen a crew like this to have it all together and they get people in and out when I walked into an office that has it all along from the control that's why I gave the ratings that I gave it's not too many places I walk into like my hydrocanologist she's top of the line too so that's why I give what I give most of the time not too many places get the ratings that I give this place deserves the rating that I gave because everything in the front that I asked for they were very complimentary the doctor was excellent and you just felt everybody was in line and everybody and it's very hard to find a good staff like this that's why they have the ratings that they got"

"Going to an hematologist/oncologist is a scary thing. Especially when you are going to get biopsy results. Dr Montana is excellent. His demeanor is perfect for an oncologist. He spoke so that we could understand without talking down to us. He was not an alarmist, but shared the importance of the next step. He is personable and he cares. Highly recommend him and his office. We saw him at his Smithtown office near St. Catherine’s Hospital. The staff that helped us were just as nice and caring."
