Dr. Caruso earned his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He complete his medical residency at St. Luke's hospital, an affiliate of Columbia University. He went on to New York University Medical Center to train in hematology/oncology where he trained an additional two years in the laboratory of Dr. Simon Karpatkin, gaining expertise in coagulation and platelet disorders. He completed his hematology/oncology training at Long Island Jewish Medical Center where he spent six months on the Bone Marrow transplants service. After leaving academic medicine at Stony Brook University, he went on to serve the residents of Suffolk County in private hematology/oncology practice for 28 years before joining New York Cancer & Blood Specialists.
