What Is Hematology?

Hematology

Hematology (also spelled “haematology”) is the medical specialty responsible for preventing, diagnosing, and treating diseases that relate to the blood and blood-forming organs, such as the bone marrow.

What Is Community Hematology?

Community hematology means ensuring patients receive medical care of the highest quality and making sure medical care is accessible and affordable to them in their own communities.

How Is Community Hematology Different?

Although other treatment settings aim to deliver quality care, community hematology makes a difference in the lives of patients by allowing them to remain close to their home, families, and larger support networks in the process. This is especially important in the context of hematology because the diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders can be emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually taxing and can last for a long period of time.

If you choose us for your care, we will welcome you warmly into our New York Cancer & Blood Specialists family. We will give you the direct contact number to your care team to best address any concerns you may have and provide for your specific needs throughout your treatment journey. Our mission will be to make what may seem like some of the most daunting moments in your life easier. You will be treated holistically and with personalized care to ensure you maintain your strength—emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual.
